What music does to me...

Music resonates with my soul.  It picks me up on a down day, it motivates me for training and competition,  it relaxes me after a hard day, it tunes me in when at the office and brings to mind many memories  good and sad.  Music can be very educational and has a very interesting historical element.
I personally like all genres of music.  My favorites being, progressive rock, classic rock, fusion, jazz, 60-70's R&B, 50's oldies  classical, folk, world and an array of country.
Playback will be discussed in another post.  I prefer digital (cd) because I like it loud.  But for analytical purposes I prefer analog (vinyl).  The music is so pure with analog, and with a hi-fi system you can here things you wouldn't on digital.
So what does music do for you?

My start in music and audio

At an early age I had an affinity to music and play back.  My parents always had the radio going or spun records from the big audio console.  My sisters grew up in the 60s and had all the good R&R going.  I'm sure that's where my taste in music started, like the Stones, Zepp, Beatles, Bowie, T Rex, etc...  I got my first system when I was about 14 in 1977, it was and Onkyo receiver, JVC speakers with a Sony turntable and my first album was Boston.  Growing up I was always the guy setting the stereo up.  Man that was fun, trying to hook up as many speakers possible and just blasting people out at parties.  I got turned on to some high end gear at a party one night.  This guy had McIntosh amps and pre amps with these monster speakers called Klipsch LaScalas.  All this was foreign to me, especially separate components.  I started reading and studying.  So of course i had to go out and get separates.  My first amp, pre and tuner were Hafler.  They blew out my JVC speakers, so...  Went out and got my first set of Klipsch's in 1989, Cornwalls.  Blew em' up at a party...  Took them back to my dealer and he said they were discontinued and could upgrade me to a pair of LaScala's.  Well that was a no brainer, and I still have that pair today.  Got my first McIntosh in 1999, an MA 6500.  It was an integrated amp and it made those Klipschs come alive.  The rest is a blur...  I sold, traded and upgraded to my current home and gym system which will be featured in future posts.
Thanks
